Some places still carry the names of our youth: Como Pizza, Reme's Diner, both on B,way & 170 St., Capitol Diner, Dichter Pharmacy & Pizza Haven on B'way & 207. Apple Savings Bank ( 181st & 207th ) formerly Harlem Savings Bank- both seem shabby & neglected compared to earlier times. T he most nostalgic place that I have found is the Tubby Hook Pub ,formerly Piper's Kilt, origionally Mc Sherry,s with the tile floor, high tin ceilings, mirrored back bar, chandeliers and wooden booths. They have added murals to their walls of some of the neighborhood landmarks. P.S. Mike- I haven't seen you in about 40 years since you and John would come up for air to the BT, and I was on the desk. Let,s all stay in touch.
