Looking to find anyone who remembers Alice Coleman and her husband [?], my father Richard Coleman, from 561 Academy Street, Inwood. I spent 31 years, but finally found out my deceased dad's real name [Coleman Joel DeKorte], and his lost family, but have been unable to find Alice Coleman's maiden/real name. According to the 1940 census, she worked retail sales at a department store [Bonwit Teller ?], but that's about all I know, other than she supposedly was born in New York around 1899.

Alice used the last name of Coleman as late as 1967, when she last appears in Manhattan phone directories. My dad had left Alice and New York around 1944, and came to Maryland.

Would love to figure out this mystery. One board member years ago said Alice was found dead in her apartment in 1967, but the poster refused to respond with any more details, and I have been unable to find any records to confirm it.

Thanks for your help!
