I recall the Bdwy & 91 St. IRT Station was operational in the early sixties. It was a stop for the local line that ran from South Ferry to 145 St. and return.
In the fifties, I used the station to get back and forth to school.
If one needed to go downtown, the most convenient way was to go one stop north to 96 St. and pickup the downtown express. The next stop was 42 St.
